My Visit to the Vet
(Our Guest Blogger is Smokey)
Hi, Everyone!
You probably don’t know me yet, but I’m Smokey, the Shih-tzu and today I had to go to the vet for my annual checkup and shots.
When my mom got into a shouting match with the receptionist, I knew this visit was not going to be a good thing even though there was this strange cat creature strolling through the office. Had I been a more aggressive type guy I would’ve bitten off his ear, but Mom was causing enough trouble on her own that I kept my cool.
I was hoping she’d get mad enough that we could just leave in case this dodo of a doc wanted to sew my eye shut again, which is what happened the last time Mom brought me here. I had poked my eye playing with my sis and so the vet sewed my eye shut and told my Mom and Dad that it would heal better this way. You’ve got to be kidding me! Think of all the dog treats they could’ve bought with the $500 they spent having my eyeball tied up in strings for two weeks. And besides that I had to wear this lampshade kind of thing over my head so I couldn’t even scratch it out of there.
But, I digress. Back to the visit today. After Mom and everyone got done yelling, they put me on this slidy silver table where I couldn’t stand up, they made Mom move out of the way so she couldn’t help me and then they wanted to poke things in my ears and pull on my mouth and didn’t understand why I didn’t like it! Would they like someone doing that to them?
The doctor did scratch my tummy for a minute but I wasn’t going to like him no matter what so he might as well have saved his energy for that dumb cat.
When they were done sticking needles in me, one of the ladies tried to give me a treat but I just turned up my nose at the treat AND her. So she gave it to the cat. Now I see why he liked to be in there so much–he was eating everyone else’s treats.
Now I’m home and my mom is helping me write my first blog post! It’s kind of hard to hit the right keys with my claws and all so I can’t type as fast as Mom does. I do have a lot to say though and I think my sister does too, so I’m hoping Mom will let us do this some more!
